Director "" was established in 2002 as an independent society promoted by Punjab National bank with one of the objectives as assimilating, developing and disseminating knowledge and expertise in the field of information Technology with particular reference to banking and financial sectors.

The Institute is spread over an area of 10 acres lush green campus and provides an ideal atmosphere for learning, managed by dedicated faculty besides visiting faculty of eminent institutions to provide domain knowledge, skill and motivation to innovate and excel.
With the growing number of customers and their growing expectations, the banks are leveraging on technology to provide customized applications for ease of transactions through various means like Mobile handsets, POS machines to handheld devices etc.  
India has in recent time very quickly switched to the era of innovation in banking with the adoption of latest technology. The well informed younger generation of today and on account of globalization, the need of products and expectation for delivery have increased tremendously and the banks in India have to design the products and introduce the technology in a way that satisfies their needs.  
The recent move of the Govt. of India to demonetize the high denomination currency notes has pushed the people of the country towards adopting a less cash economy and not only banks have taken lead in pursuing the digital products, but various Government agencies have also become pro-active in pursuing cash less transactions. The Launch of UPI by NPCI has provided opportunities to all service providers to innovate for better customer experiences.  
In this process banks are trying their best to be more efficient to meet the demand of their customers and have come out with new products to support the movement of less cash economy by adoption to digital products.  
All this requires professionals who are qualified with skills to handle and manage critical installations like network centres, data centres, security operations to name a few and professionals for maintaining and upgrading the products and services. The institute supports to develop competencies in managing these challenges through following training programmes and certificate courses .  
Training on Core Banking System:  
Institute has provided training on Core Banking solutions to the  officials of Punjab National Bank, Vijaya Bank, United Bank of India, Dena Bank, Corporation Bank, Oriental Bank of Commerce, Deptt of Post, and Druk-PNB Bank Ltd. Bhutan, dedicated training channels have been provided on operational areas of "Finacle", the Core Banking Solution of "Infosys".

Advance courses cover Core Banking Data Center, Disaster Recovery Centers, Business Continuity Plan, Information Security, Alternate Delivery Channels and Payment and Settlement Systems.
Core IT Programmes:  
Core IT Programmes on Database Management, Operating Systems like UNIX & LINUX, Networking technologies, Information Security and other areas enable to fortify, enhance and enrich the working confidence of the officials. Hands-on training enables the participants to have a deeper assimilation of the subject.  
Advanced Diploma in Banking Technology (ADBT)  
Advanced Diploma in Banking Technology (ADBT) of the Institute prepares fresh B Tech & MCA pass outs to be employable as next generation bankers. Inputs include Banking & Financial System, Credit Appraisal, Financial Analysis, Project Evaluation, Legal Aspects, various Products & Services, Core Banking Operations, and Advanced Concepts of Operating Systems such as Linux, Data Based Management System (Oracle-11g), Network Management and Soft Skills etc for all round development. The program is conducted through a mix of classroom instructions, hands on exercises, tutorial and assignments, case studies, interaction with Industry experts and project work/ internship. The course equips the students to be ready to deliver from day one to prospective employers i.e. banks and IT companies providing services to the banking industry.
